How You Can Maximize Your Teen’s Studying Time

When it comes to our kids, we try to make sure they’re getting all of the fundamental aspects of their life in order. You need to help them with common tasks that will serve them as they grow up. You need to teach them to be good to others so they can behave properly as adults. We also try to keep on top of their studies as their education matters more than perhaps they’d like to believe.

That final point is one of great importance – especially during this pandemic – as it’s very easy for a youngster to slack off with regards to their studying. If you have a child who is driven in terms of their studies, then you’re pretty much good to go and need to do very little pushing and nagging – that’s not the case for the majority, though, as most struggle to concentrate for extended periods!

As their guardian, you’ll want to make sure they’re getting a good enough session of independent studying each time in order to reach the top of the class. You don’t need to be strict and rigid, however, so don’t worry about having to be a stickler! Here are some things you can do:

Keep Them Off Social Media

Social media has proven to be quite a good little set of platforms over the past decade or so. Too much of it, though, and it can be a massive distraction for just about anyone. If you have to, confiscate their phones (the main culprits), so they cannot aimlessly scroll through the likes of Twitter and Instagram through the entirety of their study time!

Don’t Let Their Studying Be Too Intense

When the pressure is on a student’s shoulders, it makes them feel as though they must cram all the information into their head as quickly as possible. As productive as this might sound, it’s actually very counterproductive – rushing gets you nowhere. Don’t just sit them in front of a textbook and make them read, allow them to have a few games and attack certain subjects from different angles. It’s also wise to let them exercise their brains through other means, too – for example, crossword puzzles (like the kinds here: https://www.pennydellpuzzles.com/crosswords/subscriptions/) can keep anyone’s brain active and ready to take in more info.

Make Sure They’re Getting Enough Breaks

Breaks are so very important. Again, it might seem like that’s lost progress, but it’s really not. The brain needs to get away from the intensity of exercise in order to rehabilitate and soak up all the info it read beforehand. Much like legs, arms, and all the other muscles, the brain needs to relax and grow during the rest periods.

Allow Them To Study With Friends

If your kid is going to slack off and gossip throughout this entire time, then it’s not wise to allow them to study with friends. If they behave themselves, though, then it can be a great way for them to learn. Two minds can be better than one, and they can help each other a lot by exploring different ideas from different viewpoints.
